Istanbul as seen from space

After a successful first edition in 2001 in Rotterdam, Archiprix
International will again stage a unique presentation of the world's best
graduation projects in the fields of architecture, urban design and
landscape architecture. Archiprix International 2003 takes place in June
in Turkey on the shores of the Bosporus. This second edition will be
hosted and co-organised by the organisers of the Archiprix Turkey: the
Istanbul Technical University (ITU); Yapi-Endüstri Merkezi, Building &
Industry Centre and the Sevki Vanli architectural foundation.

For this years edition over 1300 architecture schools from more than 80
countries have already been invited to take part. This makes Archiprix
International by far the biggest competition for graduated architecture
students. No other competition for young designer displays such a broad
insight in world-wide trends in architecture education and the field of
architecture in general.

Until April 1 of this year students can submit their projects. In spring
all entries will be reviewed by an international jury and from the
middle of June the best entries are on display in the Architecture
Faculty of the Istanbul Technical University.

On June 19 the best projects will receive the Hunter Douglas Awards,
during a special award ceremony in the ITU. The awards carry the name of
our partner Hunter Douglas, producer of well known brands like Luxaflex
and Luxalon. This cooperation will enable the continuation of this
bi-annual worldwide event.

The award ceremony in Istanbul is accompanied by a conference on trends
and views in design education and professional practice, a series of
presentations of participating projects and an excursion programme in
and around Istanbul. The designers of the best graduation projects can
also participate in an international design workshop the week before the
award ceremony.

From February onwards the Archiprix website will display a growing web
presentation of the submitted projects. This website also contains a
presentation of the projects submitted for the 2001 edition and the
world's largest database of universities and colleges teaching
architecture, urban design and landscape architecture.

Archiprix International invites all universities and colleges teaching
architecture, urban design and landscape architecture to participate in
the competition and to select their best graduation project completed
after January 1, 2001. Participation is free of charge. Projects will be
presented in the exhibition, on the website and in a book.
