The tent of the future
June, 1999

The English architect Catalin Dragomir has been named winner of the design competition 'the tent of the future'. The assignment was to make a tent or a combination of smaller tents, which can be set up in two days and can be transported quickly. The construction method therefore holds an important place in the designs. The prize was awarded on May 28th.

The manifestation and the traditional design commission are mainly focussed at the island Hoeksche Waard situated south of Rotterdam. Until now the island managed to remain invisible for planners, but the pressure of urbanisation is becoming increasingly palpable.
